a) Master of Science in Medical Statistics (Msc. Medstat)

The Msc. in Medical Statistics course aims at training personnel to serve in the fields of national health systems, the pharmaceutical industry, and in research which is important to the development of a country. The course equips such personnel with the relevant knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of statistics and their applications in health research.

Candidates eligible for admission into the Msc. degree in Medical Statistics shall have the following qualifications:
(1.) Holder of Bachelors degrees in Medicine & Surgery, Dental Sciences, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine and Nursing Sciences.

(2.) Holders of at least an upper second class Bachelors degree in Science, Engineering, Agriculture and Arts based subjects with strong mathematical background.

(3.) Holders of a lower second class degree in the disciplines specified in (2) above plus postgraduate diploma or at least two years of relevant research/work experience in their respective fields.

(4.) Holders of a pass degree in the disciplines specified in (2) plus a post-graduate diploma in the relevant disciplines with at least two years of research/work experience

(5.) Holders of a pass degree in the areas specified in (2) plus at least five years of research/work experience.

Course Duration& Fee Structure:
The Msc. degree in Medical Statistics covers a minimum duration of four (4) semesters and maximum duration of (10) semesters of fifteen (15) weeks each.

b) Master of Science in Tropical and Infectious Diseases (Msc. TID)

The Masters in Tropical and Infectious Diseases is designed to build core Infectious Disease Control teams consisting of Physicians, Dentists, Pharmacists, Nurses, Epidemiologists ad Biologists; capable of predicting disease outbreak, carrying out disease surveillance and controlling disease epidemics. The established core teams will be expected to work closely with the relevant ministries to combat and control diseases.
They will also be expected to work with non-governmental and international organizations to achieve the same goals.

Candidates eligible for admission into Msc. TID shall have the following qualifications:
(1.) Holders of Bachelors degree in Medicine & Surgery, Dental Sciences, Pharmacy, Nursing Sciences and Veterinary Medicine.

(2.) Holders of upper second class honours degree in biomedical sciences with at least three years working experience in medical research or in disease control programmes.

(3.) Holders of lower second class honours degree in biomedical sciences with at least five years working experience in medical research or in disease control programmes.

Course Duration and Fee Structure:
The Msc. TID covers a minimum of four (4) semesters and a maximum of twelve (12) semesters of fifteen (15) weeks each.
