On May 3, 2024, Prof. Julius Oyugi, Director Research University of Nairobi Institute for Tropical and Infectious Diseases (UNITID) and Principal Investigator ENGAGE (Enabling Girls in AI and Growing Expertise) led a team from University of Nairobi and UCSF for an official visit to PWANI University located in the coastal region of Kenya. This visit was the last visit to 6 regional universities in Kenya who will be helping UoN implement the ENGAGE Project.

On 30th  April 2024 a team led by Prof. Julius Oyugi- Director University of Nairobi Institute for Tropical and Infectious Diseases (UNITID) and Principal Investigator ENGAGE (Enabling Girls in AI and Growing Expertise) made an inception visit to South East Kenya University (SEKU).

The purpose of the visit was to establish a collaboration between the two universities for the purposes of conducting joint research and trainings in relation to the ENGAGE project.

 The University of Nairobi Institute for Infectious and Tropical Diseases hosted a biosafety training session focused on biosafety practices. The event ran from April 22–26, 2024.

The training drew 25 laboratory technologists and technicians from various research projects at UNITID.
