The project is led by University of Nairobi Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases, Department of Mathematics at the UoN in collaboration with University of California San Francisco.

The overall goal of ENGAGE project is to train and mentor over 800 girls and women from less privilege backgrounds from high schools, TVET and Universities on data science with the view to using the knowledge in data science to solve local public health problems.

The team from UoN was excited to be received by the Vice Chancellor PWANI University, Prof. James H. P. Kahindi and his team. They had a fruitful discussion and had a chance to visit several facilities within the campus. They were very impressed with the state of art facilities available within campus that girls in the ENGAGE project will have access to during the training. They were excited with the ENGAGE project as it promises to change the lives of girls and women from less privileged backgrounds who will become change makers in providing public health solutions.
